Your Kids are Sitting Ducks for School Shooters

I have been a teacher for 31 years. If it sounds like I am pissed, it’s because I am!

For all who have children- please realize that your kids are no safer today than they ever have been from school shootings.

Absolutely nothing tangible has been done to keep students more safe since Columbine.

Kids are safer from tobacco, alcohol, cars, food, household products, travel, viruses etc than they were years ago, but tomorrow, when your kids go to school, if a school shooter has their school in their sites, your kids are absolutely no safer than they ever have been.

So, let the irrelevant arguments begin, let dead children be pawns in a political chess game, and let useless “thoughts and prayers” be expended since politicians will do nothing but fulfill their political obligations by backing the second amendment position their party needs them to.

Let feigned sorrow and indignancy paint the faces of our elected officials until the latest dead kids’ faces fade from the forefront of the news and they can resume their ineffective squabbling about nonsense.

And, when your kids go off to school in America tomorrow, realize they are essentially low currency poker chips in a futile game that we allow them to play.
